Student Ambassadors

We are not currently hiring new Ambassadors.
As a Catalyst Ambassador, you can support the next generation of computing students and help the Computing Catalyst cultivate an inclusive computing community at UMD and beyond.
Catalyst Ambassadors are essential to the operations and impact of the Computing Catalyst. Depending on the specific role and time of year, Catalyst Ambassadors help manage Catalyst programs, instruct local K-12 students on computing topics, and support Catalyst leadership with the day-to-day operations of the initiative. Catalyst Ambassador roles vary throughout the year, but mainly follow four main structures.
Academic Year
This is a semester-long commitment with an option to continue each following semester and year, with the exception of summer. These Ambassadors primarily support Catalyst event planning, set-up, and implementation, assigned admin tasks like newsletter development or RSVP tracking, K-12 outreach, and Catalyst workshops.
K-12 Summer Instructor
These Ambassadors are responsible for planning and developing engaging instruction, interactive activities, and technical projects for our Catalyst K–12 Summer Academy programs. This position also includes providing supervision during student pick-up and drop-off, field trips, lunch, and more.
Administrative Support
These Ambassadors typically have worked with Catalyst for multiple semesters and have experience working with the leadership team. Related tasks include, but are not limited to, email management, managing and organizing student-facing files, and other basic office duties.
Research
This is a selective Ambassador position that supports the Computing Catalyst with its data analysis, research writing, and research output.
