Applications for Career Launch 2026 are closed.
Career Launch (CMSC298C) is a "choose-your-own-adventure" project-based course that provides product development and design-thinking experience. The course runs every spring semester, and an application is required to enroll.
Participating students expand their professional networks and technical aptitude through course lessons, group work, and industry mentoring.
Eligibility
Required
- Completed CMSC131, INST126 or equivalent
- Application completed and submitted on time
Preferred
- First-year student
- Internal or external transfer student admitted into a computing major (CIP Code 11 and/or computer engineering)
- Students with less than 35 credit hours
- Former TechStart participant
- Has not done Career Launch in the past
